Belarusians join pickets still unaware of candidates’ names

ERB has attended Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu’s creative action and asked passers-by about their opinion (Photo) The team of a presidential candidate Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu conducted a creative action near the entrance to Minsk railway terminal. He was supported by musicians and writers. A huge makeshift guide-post indicating the directions to regional cities and to October Square was installed there.

"The square is the only way to avoid rigged elections! Let us all gather in the square at 8 p.m. on December 19 to defend our votes!” – urged the candidate and asked everyone not to take part in the early voting.
Probably the overcast sky was to blame for the fact that the picket did not attract many passers-by. Their opinions about the square differed.

Man: I totally agree on the square and I will be there as there is nothing to expect. I will certainly be there.
ERB: Do you believe that votes are calculated honestly?
Another man: I don’t!
ERB: Are you ready to defend your vote in the square?
One more man: I do not go there. I haven’t done it since long ago.

Quite a lot of people do not know a single candidate except for Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

Passer-by:  I think that Lukashenka is the only host in our country. He does everything for the country and for people.

Worker: I do not know this candidate. I’m watching it because I have nothing else to do.
Elderly man: I was at my sister’s and I do not know a single candidate, I only heard there were 10 of them. I will look through the programme on my way home…

The idea of the action appeared in Nyaklyayeu’s team this morning. On the whole, Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu says that such actions do not require a lot of expenses - you just need to be creative.

Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu’s team devising the next action

Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu: “Neither Lukashenka nor the opposition can be guaranteed a victory in the first voting. Lukashenka has about 35% and I have half less. Evidently, there must be a run-off!”.

And Lukashenka’s defeat in it is inevitable, thinks Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu.
