Belarus's gold and currency reserves reach $5bn
The gold and foreign currency reserves of Belarus have reached $5 billion against $3.4 billion in early December 2007 thanks to the 1.5-billion loan wired by Russia towards the end of the year, reports Nasha Niva. In 2007, the growth of the gold and foreign currency reserves was ensured mainly thanks to external borrowings which rose $5 billion to reach the current mark of $11.5 billion.
