Belavia to phase out Soviet-made regional jets
Belarus’s national airline Belavia said it will phase out Soviet-made Tupolev-154 passenger jets by 2010.
They will be replaced by foreign regional jets, Belavia’s deputy director general Ihar Charhinets told Belta news agency.
Belavia currently operates a fleet of four Tupolev-154M planes that will be replaced with one Boeing 737-300 and three CRJ 100-200. The Boeing will arrive in Minsk on June 15, while Canada-made CRJ planes will jet into Belarus in July.
The phased-out jets are likely to be leased to several Russian airlines.
