Border guards round up 20 Ukrainian berry pickers in southern Belarus

Belarusian border guards have rounded up 20 Ukrainian berry and mushroom pickers close to the village of Khoyniki in southern Belarus, Alyaksandr Tsishchanka, spokesman for the State Border Troops Committee, told ERB.

"It is high season now, and we have to deal with this problem all the time. Both Ukrainian and Belarusian border guards have to deal with this problem, because sometimes whole villages cross into Belarus illegally to pick berries," he said.

The detained Ukrainians are likely to be fined and deported to Ukraine.
