Brest authorities do not recommend constructing buildings with basements
The Head of the construction department of Brest city executive committee Aliaksandr Barysau explained to the European Radio for Belarus: — Basically, we do not recommend basements. We received data from design engineers, that the ground water level had increased by 70 cm. We last checked the water level back in May - it was different, now we compared the results. It is not forbidden to make basements, not at all, in tower buildings as well. We'll just have to rise up the zero level. I even had water n my basement this year, for the first time in 15 years. I had to buy a motor-pipe and pipe it out. I spent 400 kilowatts for a month on that.
