CEC considers appeals on Lukashenka's withdrawal as a candidate
The Central Election Commission is considering the appeals of Siarhej Kaliakin and Halina Samdzianava on Aliaksandr Lukashenka's withdrawal as a presidential candidate. "A presidential candidate Aliaksandr Lukashenka collected his representatives and conducted a consultative session on November 29. This session was broadcasted live on TV. Other candidates do not have such an opportunity. However, candidates should have equal rights in accordance with the electoral legislation. Thus, such actions of Aliaksandr Lukashenka can be considered a ground for cancellation of his registration as a presidential candidate", — thinks the member of Minsk city election commission Halina Samdzianava.
Ales Lahvinets, who represents Ryhor Kastusyou at the CEC session, adds that Aliaksandr Lukashenka obtained obvious advantages in comparison with the other candidates due to his 3-hours speech at the All-Belausian Congress, which was also broadcasted on TV. Aliaksandr Lukashenka has broken Article 73 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus by doing so.
Siarhej Kaliakin is not present at the session.
