Chief auditor attacks private contractors over missed deadlines

Zyanon Lomats, head of Belarus' State Control Committee, has attacked private contractors over failure to meet deadlines for building office and trade structures in downtown Minsk, BelTA reported.

Lomats said that it takes five to seven years to design and construct a medium-sized office and shopping building. If work makes progress at the same pace, downtown development would not only be completed before 2010 as planned, but before 2015, Lomats said.

As many as 10 projects are being carried out in downtown Minsk at present.
