Civil Society Forum appeals to European structures

The representatives of the national platform of the "Eastern Partnership" Civil Society Forum have filed an appeal to the European countries' governments, the international organizations (Council of Europe, UNO, OSCE), the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union. In their appeal  the civil society representatives ask the European structures to make all the possible diplomatic efforts to stop illegal and immoral actions of the Belarusian authorities against the participants of peaceful protests on December 19-20.

The national platform's representatives urge the Europeans to suspend the process of the Belarusian authorities' participation in the "Eastern Partnership" program, as well as current inter-governmental programs of technical assistance in the fields of economy, trans-border cooperation, and power economy, until they stop criminal harassment and other illegal actions against the presidential candidates and detained civil activists.

The civil society's representatives urge to create an international commission for transparent and unbiased investigation of the events on December 19-20, to bring those who are really guilty thereof to responsibility.

Civil activists ask the European structures to address to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Belarus with an appeal on unacceptability of expels of students from the Belarusian educational establishments, and discharge of employees in connection with their participation in the peaceful protest actions, on impossibility to continue cooperation with Belarus in any fields in case such expels and discharges take place.

They also ask to increase regular contacts and dialogue between the organizations of the Belarusian civil society and different European subjects, as well as to abolish consular fees for the Belarusian citizens when they get Shengen visas in the EU countries' embassies in Belarus.
