Communists vs Justice Ministry hearing postponed
The hearing of the lawsuit filed by the Belarusian Party of Communists against the Ministry of Justice of Belarus, scheduled to take place today at the Supreme Court, has been shifted for a later date, the Party of Communists leader, Siargej Kaliakin said in a statement.
The Supreme Court was to hear the complaint from the Party of Communists against two written warnings issued by the Ministry of Justice. The first warning was issued after the lists of the party membership were checked. The party received the second warning for taking part in the founding congress of the Union of Leftist Parties in the Ukrainian city of Chernigov.
According to Siargej Kaliakin, the Supreme Court has accepted to review a complaint by the party about the denial by the Ministry of Justice to register a city organization of the Party of Communists. The politician said the city authorities would not register a city party organization "without any justification", while the Ministry of Justice issues warnings because the party has no city organization.
"We have been repremanded for that. We have appealed this warning. The complaint about the denial of registration will be heard on May 21. After that, the new date for today's case will be named," Siargej Kaliakin said.
