Two residents of Slonim in the Hrodna region, sentenced to 13 years in prison for plotting to kill a teenage girl, have appealed the verdict. The man named Martynau and his partner Shubaba were looking for someone who could kill an under-age relative of Martynau in order to inherit an apartment that the girl had received as a legacy.
Martynau hired a man and paid him $600 only to be arrested by the police. The "killer" was an undercover police officer.
