Court hears 'live shield' case
The Minsk District Court on Friday continued hearing the case of two traffic police officers who used civilian vehicles to stop a drunk speeding driver on the Minsk-Mikashevichy highway. The court questioned witnesses and considered video and audio materials of the case.
Justice Iryna Maiko rejected a motion from defendants' lawyer Vasil Tulyakow who was seeking to add Roman Mentsuyk, the drunk driver stopped by by the live shield, to the list of defendants.
The court also rejected a motion from Vera Stramkouskaya, the lawyer for plaintiffs, who wanted Dzmitry Karzyuk, the Minsk traffice police chief, to appear as a witness. However, Justice Iryna Maiko agreed to call Yury Troina, a traffic police department officer, to testify in this case, reports Interfax.
