Crew of IL-76 detained in Bangkok ask Nazarbayev for help

Pilots of the Il-76 detained in Thailand with weapons on board have claimed that they are innocent and asked the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev for help. The crew have addressed the President of Kazakhstan and claimed that they were not allowed to look at the goods they had to transport as they were sealed, informs Vesti.kz. According to the way-bills, the goods were described as “mechanical details”. Pilots say that they resembled details of oil-producing equipment. The citizens of Kazakhstan also claim that they did not see how Thai authorities had removed the seals. In the pilots’ opinion, the side that had sent the goods is guilty and they only transported the goods to fulfill an order of the plane’s tenant.

Let us remind you that the Il-76 that had set off from North Korea was detained in Bangkok on December 12, 2009. 4 citizens of Kazakhstan and a 54-year-old Belarusian flight engineer Mihail Petuhou were on board. They are accused of illegal possession of weapons and presenting false information about the goods to the Thai authorities.
