Deputies decrease minimal term of imprisonment for bribery
Deputies of the House of Representatives have adopted amendments to the Criminal Code in two readings today. They will decrease the minimal term of imprisonment for bribery.
The Attorney General Ryhor Vasilevich has informed that the current legislation does not take into account the sum of bribes which leads to punishments that do not correspond to crimes.
For example, now the first part of the article provides for 7 years of imprisonment for officials’ bribery. The amendments introduce an alternative punishment from three to 5 years of imprisonment.
