Does Medvedev look for Yanukovich’s support to oppose to Belarus?

The first Russian-Ukrainian inter-regional economic forum took place in a Russian resort city Gelendzhik on October 5. The Presidents of Russia and Ukraine met there again. At first Victor Yanukovich and Dmitri Medvedev talked tete-a-tete. According to Ukrainian experts who commented on it for UNIAN, they probably discussed “the Belarusian issue”. A political scientist Vadzim Karasyou thinks that Medvedev tried to detect Yanukovich’s reaction connected with the situation in the Russian-Belarusian relations at the meeting without press representatives. Russia needs Ukraine to express solidarity with it.

A political scientist Victor Nebozhenko notes that the demonstration of warm relationship between Ukraine and Russia is advantageous for Medvedev during the conflict between Belarus and Russia.
