Don't take loans, says National Bank

The National Bank of Belarus does not recommend the population to take loans from banks, National Bank spokesman Anatol Drazdou said today in an interview with the ONT television channel. He noted, however, that the number of those wishing to borrow was on the rise. According to Drazdou's estimates, the current interest rate "has reached a level which can be described as prohibited".

That's why he is advising the people who plan to take a loan "to calculate if their income can allow them to refund to the bank on time".

Drazdou also noted that Belarusians should not count on "the rubel losing its value", thus making it easy to repay their debts to banks. "It will not work out. The interest rate will annul all this and you will have to pay fully", the National Bank official said.
