'Dzmitruk case': Plaintiff faces 2 years in prison
Georgi Dzmitruk, a co-chairman of the committee to organize the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, is facing up to two years in prison for "premediated false statements", after he was trying to use legal methods to identify anonymous slanderers. Three weeks ago, a local court closed the criminal libel case filed by Georgi Dzmitruk. Now the police in Kobryn has opened a criminal case against Dzmitruk on allegation that he had filed a libel suit when there was no libel and that I was giving false statements. Dzmitruk said he is going to defend.
We remind that this is all about an audio recording by "sex workers Olga, Lena and Olga" talking to allegedly Georgi Dzmitruk. The anonymous women accused him of not paying for their services. However, on April 26 the case was thrown out because "a defendant could not be identified”.
