Election officials admit to problems with voters' lists

The Central Election Commission of Belarus has admitted that there are facts of irregularities with the lists of voters. But in the view of Mikalai Lazavik, the secretary of the Central Election Commission, they can't influence on the outcome of the polls. Election officials maintain that mistakes in the lists of voters is a common problem in the world. In the countries where the lists are compiled on the basis of residence registration, there are always problems with the lists, Lidziya Yarmoshyna, the chairwoman of the Central Election Commission, said in a statement.

Lazavik also said that the lists were compiled in mid-August, and voters could have married, moved or died in the period before the election.
