EP to adopt resolution on Belarus on January 20

A final project of the resolution on Belarus has been published at the European Parliament's web-site. It has been prepared at the plenary session which is taking place in Strasbourg (France). MEPs will vote on the document today, on January 20.  In this document, the European Parliament calls on the EU bodies to think of smart econiomic sanctions and suspension of financial aid to Belarus, to ban the officials to enter the European Union and to freeze the country's participation in the Eastern Partnership, and also suggests to support the independent media and declares an opinion that the hockey world championship should not be held while there are political prisoners in the country.
