EU Ambassador to appear in Belarus soon

Belarus will get an EU Ambassador soon. The contest for the position announced by the European Commission is taking place at the moment, informs BelTA.
The last documents needed for the position of the EU Ambassador to Belarus were accepted on September 10. An internal procedure of consideration of candidates is being performed in Brussels now. According to the representative office, EC and EC Council officials alongside with diplomats from EU member states could take part in the contest.

The EU chargé d'affaires pro tempore Jean-Eric Holzapfel heads the EU representative office in Belarus at the moment. The decision to appoint an ambassador is connected with the fact that the Treaty of Lisbon has come into power and the European External Action Service has been created.
