European Coalition to pay tribute to Bolshevik revolution victims
European Coalition activists intend to hold a religious service on November 7 in remembrance of the victims of the 1917 Bolshevik revolution. Mikalay Statkevich, leader of the organizing committee for the Belarusian Social Democratic Party "Narodnaya Hramada," says the coalition has approached the Peter and Paul Church in Minsk to conduct the service after priests at the city's major Orthododx cathdral rejected its request. Statkevich says that Bolshevik revolution was a global tragedy. In Belarus alone, about 600,000 people were killed during the 1920s and 1930s.
