Exit poll: Ireland approves Lisbon treaty
Unofficial exit polls suggest that Ireland has approved the Lisbon Treaty at a national referendum. The Russian news agency Ria-Novosti reports that representatives of the ruling party noted that there have been more supporters of the European integration in the working urban districts. During the previous referendum, those who opposed the integration in those districts were in majority.
The official vote count will begin on Saturday.
In June 2008, over 53 percent of Irish citizens voted against the Lisbon treaty. The document cannot come into force until all EU member states approve the treaty.
