Five UCP deputy contenders withdraw their candidature
Five deputy contenders of the United Civil Party are withdrawing their candidatures. The UCP leader Anatol Lyabedzka has claimed it. They are Laybedzka, Stanislau Bahdankevich, Valyantsina Palevikova, Hanna Yahorava, Katsyaryna Malasayeva and Alyaksandr Dabravolski.
As it was informed, UCP members delivered an ultimatum to the Central Election Commission in connection with their inability to print election materials on September 16. Laybedzka, Bahdankevich, Palevikova, Yahorava, Malasayeva and Dabravolski were going to print a common pre-election leaflet but several printing houses refused them.
The CEC secretary Mikalai Lazavik held a meeting on September 18. He claimed that he “really wanted to help Anatol Lyabedzka organize printing of pre-election leaflets”. However, according to him, UCP candidates “decided to print a special issue of “Narodnaya Vola” instead of leaflets and did not react to the suggestion to change the format of the booklet”.
