Foreign ministries to set date of Belarus-Poland consultations over Union of Poles

The foreign ministries of Belarus and Poland are expected to set the date for bilateral consultations over the unregistered Union of Poles in Belarus, Mikhail Rybakou, the spokesman for Belarus' commissioner for religious and ethnic matters, told reporters. The Interfax news agency reports that the date has been discussed at the level of the foreign ministries of the two countries and will be set soon.

Talking about the unofficial part of the Union of Poles, Rybakou noted: "If they begin founding a new organization, we will invite them to take part in a series of press conferences with the participation of NGOs. So far, we have no information that they are building a new organization".

Georgiy Egiyazaran, the chairman of the Consultative Inter-Ethnic Council at the Commission for Ethnic and Religious Affairs, said that the divide in the Union of Poles could have been stopped in the beginning before putting it into the political dimension.
