Former head of MTP Lyavonau is refused early release
A former head of Minsk Tractor Plant Mihail Lyavonau has been refused early release.
A special commission that was dealing with his case decided that Lyavonau had too big of a debt.
Let us remind you that the Supreme Court of Belarus sentenced the former director-general of MTP to 10 years of imprisonment in a strict-security camp and confiscation of all his property and prohibited him to be appointed to any other executive position for 5 years in 2004.
The police claim that Lyavonau took 15 million USD for his own and distributed the money to accounts in western banks. The court decided to take about 10 million USD from him. However, Mihail Lyavonau did not plead guilty.
