Former political prisoners protect detained entrepreneurs

Former political prisoners Alyaksandr Kazulin, Andrei Kim and Syarhei Parsyukevich have prepared an open statement in support of the entrepreneurs detained in Vaukavysk. The statement says that the accusations pronounced to Mikalai Autuhovich, Yury Lyavonau and Uladzimir Asipenka are absurd and do not stand up to criticism. “This arrest is a spit in the face of the official Europe and a good demonstration of the so-called liberalization”, - noted the former political prisoners.

The document also reminds that the Belarusian authorities have not stopped the prosecution of political dissenters. For example, there is “the case of 14” whose participants are still subjected to criminal responsibility. The former political prisoners also reminded about a seriously ill American Emmanuel Zeltzer who was in prison hospital and about opposition activists drafted despite of medical contra-indications.

"Cooperation with this regime is immoral and dangerous. The European business and the official Brussels should remember they will always play by the rules of the unprincipled man. Anyone regardless of their skin colour and passport may become his next victim”, - claimed the authors of the statement.

In connection with it they have demanded to release M.Autohovich, Y.Lyavonau and U.Asipenka as soon as possible, to hand E.Zeltser to the American administration of justice, to organize an official medical check-up for the forcibly drafted activists, to restore civil and property rights of all political prisoners and to cancel the repressive court’s decisions pronounced to participants of “the case of 14”.
