France quarrels with EU because of Gypsies
The argument on the problem of deportation of the Gypsies from France threatens to complicate the atmosphere of EU leaders summit, which starts today in Brussels. France called critical remarks to its actions, declared by the EU Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding, unacceptable. She compared deportation of Gypsies with fascist harassment during the Second World war. French Prime Minister called these words "unbeliavable" and "scandal".
More than 8 thousands of Gypsies have been deported from France since the beginning of the year.
The President of the European Commission fully supported Vivianne Reding's sharp statement, which, according to him, was agreed with the directive board, informs Еuronews.
Moreover, the European Commission threatens France with sanctions if further investigation shows the authorities of the country violated the directive on free movement of the EU citizens.
