Freedom Day action to start near Academy of Sciences
The steering committee for the celebration of the Freedom Day took a decision to apply for the street action on February 11 yesterday.
The deputy head of the movement “For Freedom” Yuras Hubarevich has informed BelaPAN that representatives of the BPF Party, the United Civil Party, the steering committee of “Belarusian Christian Democracy”, “Young Front” (registered in the Czech Republic), the campaigns “Tell the Truth!” and “European Belarus” took part in the meeting.
It was decided that the action would begin near the National Academy of Sciences at 6 p.m. on March 25. Its participants will walk towards Yanka Kupala Park and a meeting will take place there.
Hubarevich doubts that Minsk City Executive Committee will officially allow the action’s itinerary. At the same time the politician hopes that the number of participants and negotiations with the authorities will allow conducting the event according to the prepared plan”.
The main goal of the action is to draw attention to political prisoners’ problems, the struggle with dissent and the country’s independence.
