Gas price to be “dropping” in Belarus in 2009
The price for gas will be “dropping” in Belarus in 2009. Alyaksandr Lukashenka claimed it after the recent negotiations with the Russian administration. According to the Belarusian leader, the price for gas will reduce by 2.5 or 3 times in the period between January 1 and December 31, 2009. A.Lukashenka informed that financial and economic issues were discussed during the negotiations. In particular, the possibility of using Russian roubles for payment was discussed. According to the Belarusian leader, Russian roubles may become a reserve currency for our country alongside with dollars, euro and yuans.
Lukashenka noted that military and political issues were discussed there together with economic issues. In particular, they discussed the possibility of strengthening the joint regional military grouping, its rearmament and modernization. The Belarusian leader informed that an agreement on creation of a joint air-raid defense system could be signed at the end of January.
