Georgia formally exits post-Soviet political grouping

Georgia's foreign ministry on August 18 sent a note to the CIS Executive Committee, informing that the Georgian parliament on August 14 voted in favor of exiting the Commonwealth of Independent States, reports Georgia online
Addressing a rally in Tbilisi on August 12, Mikhail Saakashvili pledged to pull Georgia out of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Besides, he advised other countries to follow his course.

On August 14, the Georgian parliament unanimously backed his proposal.
