Government eases pricing policy

Legal entities and small-size entrepreneurs are exempt from having the prices (tariffs) registered with the government in cases they are unable to stick to the approved limitations of price indices, according to a resolution of the Council of Ministers of Belarus.
The measure was passed on February 22, 2008 and becomes effective from the moment of publication. In the view of the Ministry of Economy, the resolution is an important step forward towards the liberalization of the pricing legislation in Belarus.

Under the measure, it is now not necessary to register the prices of barley and beers, some agricultural produce. The registration has also been abolished for concert or festival tickets.

There will be no registration for the cost of handcraft items and for the tariffs of the services to organize expositions, conferences, presentations, seminars and lectures. Entrepreneurs are also exempt from registering their tariffs for transportation of passengers from outside Belarus or in transit through the territory of the country. The regulation also abolishes the registration of tariffs for advertising services, reports the official news agency BELTA.
