Half of passengers in Minsk do not pay transport fares in evening hours
Journalists with the Respublika newspaper have carried out an experiment on the public transport in Minsk.
Together with controllers, the journalists raided trolley-buses, trams and buses in various parts of the capital. They found out that around 10 percent of passengers do not pay their fares in the mornings; 20 percent in the afternoon and rush hours.
In the evenings, when controllers end their shifts, the number of "hares" (ticketless passengers) grows rapidly. After 8 p.m., up to 50 percent of the passengers do not pay for their ride on the public transport.
