Has Russia resumed passport control on Belarusian border?

Passport control has been introduced for buses leaving Russia for Belarus. However, only station employees check the documents of passengers leaving Russia. In particular, an ERB listener witnessed it when he was returning home from Smolensk. Employees of Smolensk railway terminal checked whether the photos in documents corresponded to passengers’ appearance and information in tickets. They checked passengers looking like Caucasians most attentively.

The company “Russian bus lines” has confirmed the information to ERB. However, an employee of the company noted that such check-ups were conducted on other borders too.

ERB: Do you have passport control?
“Russian bus lines”: We do.
ERB: What is it connected with? It seemed it was not necessary…
“Russian bus lines”: It’s connected with terrorist acts. There were terrorist acts in Moscow and it is caused by them.
ERB: So buses heading for Belarus are being checked in connection with it, are they?
“Russian bus lines”: Not only Belarusian buses are being checked. It is being done with all buses.
ERB: How long will it continue?
“Russian bus lines”: How do I know? Phone the FSS and ask them.
ERB: Was it the administration of the FSS that ordered you to do it?
“Russian bus lines ”: It was.

Let us remind you that two blasts occurred in Moscow subway on March 29.

By the way, Minsk police claimed that “some foreigners” arrived to organize a terrorists act on Freedom Day this year. They said the possible terrorists could arrive from Russia.
