Heat endangers eels in Lake Narach

The situation with a high mortality of fish in Belarus is not critical yet. According to Ministry of Nature, fish was affected only at a water reservoir in Asipovichy. However, scientists are alarmed about Lake Narach, reports Respublika newspaper. According to fishing amateurs, eels lose caution and tend to reach the coast. It can be caused only by the hot weather and hot water in Lake Narach up to 30C or more. In such conditions, eels suffer various diseases due to a lack of oxygen.

A similar situation led to a wholesale deaths of eel in the summer of 1999 on Lake Narach and Lake Berazzha in Braslau.
