Hrodna historians make another attempt to save "New World"
The participants of the international scientific conference which took place at the historical faculty of Hrodna University sent an appeal to the head of the Scientific-Methodological Council Ihar Charniauski.
The appeal claims high cultural, city-forming and architectural value of the "New World", and is signed by the Cand.Sc.(history) Ina Sorkina. The historians ask to include this section into the historical center of Hrodna and provide it with the status of a historical-cultural treasure.
As it was informed by the local newspaper "Vecherniy Grodno", the city executive committee had approved the list of buildings which were to be demolished. A considerable part of the 70 buildings in the list is located in the unique city section "New World".
