Human rights activist beaten in Salihorsk

Human rights activist Yana Palyakova was yesterday evening beaten up by unidentified thugs near her house. However, the woman managed to call the ambulance and the police. After she received medical help in a local hospital, the activist was taken to the police station. She felt sick and tried to get some fresh air outdoors, she was kicked. The lady maintains that a police officer grabbed her and threw on the floor, injuring her leg, reports Radio Svaboda.

Yana Palyakova was detained by the police on August 30 in the center of Salihorsk. She claimed then that plainclothes agents had proposed that she signed documents. When the lady tried to pick and read the documents, she was heavily kicked. Doctors later confirmed the bruises.

Yana Palyakova was today expected to file a complaint with the prosecutor's office.
