IMF increases Belarus’ credit by 1 billion dollars and allocates second tranche

The International Monetary Fund has increased the sum of the Belarusian anti-crisis credit by 1 billion dollars - up to 3.52 billion dollars. The fund’s committee of directors has also approved an immediate allocation of the second tranche of the credit to Minsk – almost 680 million dollars, reports RBC.

The new credit will support the governmental economic programme and alleviate the consequences of the world financial crisis seeming harder than expected in Belarus, is said in the IMF’s statement.

Let us remind you that the initial credit line was opened for Belarus in January and totalled 2.51 billion dollars. At the same time Minsk received the first tranche of the credit.
