IMF mission in Minsk to evaluate progress
A new mission of the International Monetary Fund today arrived in Minsk to study the situation with the Belarusian economy within the next several days. The mission will be received at the Belarusian government, the National Bank, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy. In January 2009, Belarus received the first installment of $800 million from the IMF. The second installment of $630 million arrived in Belarus in early July.
IMF's Board of Directors approved a decision to increase a stand-by loan for Belarus by $1 billion. This money plus the remaining $350 million is expected in Belarus by the end of the year, reports СTV.
