Inflation in Belarus 1.5 percent up in April 2008

The growth of consumption prices has been reported for the second consecutive month in Belarus. Belapan news agency quotes the Minstry of Statistics as reporting that inflation rose by 1.2 percent in April against 0.8 percent in March and 0.7 percent in February 2008. In January, prices grew by 2,5%.

Since early this year, inflation has grown by 5.3 percent against the government's annual forecast of 6-8 percent. In 2007, inflation hit 12.1 percent against the government's forecast of 6-8 percent.
