Interior: “They cannot find Mentsiuk. But they have not announced him wanted yet”.
Journalists working in the “Let them talk” programme were the last to see “the heroes”. Employees of the First TV Channel bought the Mentsiuks tickets to Minsk but the couple refused the offer to give them a lift to the station. As far as ERB ahs found out, the Mentsiuks fee for participation in the show was less than one thousand dollars.
Raman Mentsiuk, the man who rammed “the live shield” at the 8th kilometer of the highway Minsk-Miklashevichy on March 2, suddenly disappeared after having returned from Moscow and the police cannot find him. Namely, it is unclear whether he has returned or not. The issue of announcing him wanted and starting a new criminal case in connection with it is being considered now.
The head of the information and public relations department of Minsk Region Executive Committee’s Department of the Interior Alyaksandr Shunkevich informed ERB about it.
Alyaksandr Shunkevіch: “They cannot find Mentsiuk. But they have not announced him wanted yet”.
ERB reminded him that Mentsiuk was going to spend his honeymoon in Turkey or Egypt. However, the employee of the Department of the Interior assured that Mentsiuk could not have done it because he was on the list of people forbidden to go abroad.
Alyaksandr Shunkevіch: “He is unlikely to flee to Egypt. He is on the list of people forbidden to leave the country and it is checked at the border”.
The head of the information department did not comment on the idea that the runaway could go abroad from Russia right after participation in Malahov’s programme “Let them talk!” on March 19. Speaking about the possibility of announcing Mentsiuk wanted, he said it was up to the investigator to decide. If he does it, a new criminal case will be started against Raman Mentsiuk. The investigator will also decide whether to conduct an investigative experiment of the incident on the highway Minsk-Miklashevichy without the culprit’s participation.
Let us remind you that ERB informed that his and his wife’s cell phones were switched off for the whole day in the article “Mentsiuk is on the list of people forbidden to go abroad but he is not forbidden to go to a show in Moscow” on March 21. They are also switched off today…
ERB managed to phone to the studio of the “Let them talk!” programme of the ORT channel and they said that they had bought “the heroes” of the programme tickets to Minsk. However, the Mentsiuks wanted to get to the station on their own.
“We had tickets and we gave them to the couple. We had ordered a car to drive them to the station from the TV centre. However, they asked to drive them to the hotel first because they wanted to take their belongings from there and to meet some friends in Moscow. They promised they would get to the station themselves. We gave them the tickets and the money”.
ERB asked whether the Mentsiuks had received their fee and journalists answered that they did. However, they refused to say how much the fee was. The only thing they specified was that the sum was less than one thousand dollars.
