International Volunteers' Day marked on December 5

The world markes the International Volunteers' Day on December 5. Volunteers are people who dedicate their free time to the society's well-being. This holiday was established by the UN General Assembly in 1985. Volunteers can realise themselves in various spheres. For example, such people help to clean the territory, disseminate posters and booklets of some social campaign. They can make free city tours, or interpret at big sports events.  Volunteers also often help the staff in orphanages or senior centers, participate in liquidation of natural disasters' consequences. The UN calls on the states to inform the people about the importance of voluntary work. Volunteers, in their turn, state in the Universal Declaration of Volunteers that they have a right to sacrifice their talents, time and energy to individual and collective actions without expecting any reward for that.
