Investigation not to disclaim information about Ivan Kulikou's detention so far
The scientist's son Uladzimir Kulikou says that his father demonstrated that broad groups of society protest against the existent authorities by his participation in the electoral campaign.
The city police say nothing about the reasons for the detention of the former presidential contender Ivan Kulikou. The head of the press-center of Minsk city administration of internal affairs of Minsk city executive committee Aliaksandr Lastouski has informed Euroradio about this.
"I can only confirm the fact of detention so far.The investigation has no intention to disclaim the details by now", — Lastouski said.
Ivan Kulikou's son Uladzimir has shared his opinion with regard to the reasons for his father's detention live on air on Euroradio.
According to him, Ivan Kulikou, as any other contender, "had no illusions on who will win in the end". "For many people, including my father, it was a protest against the existent authorities", — says Uladzimir Kulikou.
He underlines that Ivan Kulikou is a scientist, a doctor of science, a professor, who is well-known in the world. "When the voters see scientists who stand against the existent authorities, it makes them think that broad groups of society are really against the President", — says Uladzimir Kulikou. He reminded that his father spoke on behalf of the "people of science" "who have little salaries and whose rights are violated".
Ivan Kulikou stood for the return of the former Constitution, for cooperation with the West and Russia, he spoke about the problems of nuclear power, which he knew really well, states Uladzimir Kulikou.
He also informed that a checking was conducted at his father's work for a whole month. "I think the have "dug something out" and arrested him on the ground of what they found", — says Uladzimir.
