Josipovic elected Croatia president

The 52-year-old law professor and classical music composer Ivo Josipovic from the opposition Social Democratic Party has won Croatia's presidential election by a wide margin. He received 55 percent of votes.
The politician is considered to be a promising leader yet with little political experience. During his campaign, Josipovich has pledged to help state's efforts to tackle corruption and to take Croatia into the European Union by 2012.

In Croatia, the president has a say regarding foreign policy, national security and defense, but he has no veto right for the legislation, notes onet.pl.

Josipovic will be Croatia's third president since independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.
