KGB seize $1700 from opposition supporter in Minsk

Zmitser Shymanski, the chairman of the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front's branch in Brest, was detained by KGB agents in Minsk. The security agents said they operated under a warrant from the Department of Financial Investigations and confiscated $1700 from the opposition supporter. The KGB agents said they wanted to verify if the banknotes were genuine. They also told Shymanski to write an explanation about the source of origin of the banknotes, but the latter refused to do so.

Shymanski expects his income declaration and property to be checked again by the security agencies, reports the press office of the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front.
