KGB suspects youth activist of unauthorized activities

Andrey Kolasau, a KGB investigator in Homel region, on September 27 interrogated Andrey Tsyanyuta, a pro-democracy youth activist, and issued a statement, suspecting the activist of taking part in unregistered youth organization, Malady Front, reports Belapan. The KGB said that Tsyanyuta "discredits the state bodies of power and authority, destabilizes the social and political situation, drags the youth into the ranks of a structure which aims to organize radical propaganda events".

Over the past two months, the activist has been detained by police eight times on suspicion of having committed several crimes, including rape, and several administrative offences.

On September 25, Tsyanyuta was released from a police custody where he had served a 10-day administrative arrest. While in custody, his parents' apartment was raided by KGB agents, who seized a computer and printed matters.
