Latvia worried over reduced transit of Belarus' potassium
Belarus has deliberately reduced potassium shipments through Latvia, Imants Sarmulis, the manager of the Latvia sea port of Ventspils said in a statement. He noted that while there is a huge demand for potassium at the world market, Belarus has cut potassium exports.
Andris Maldups, the director of the transit department at Latvia's transport ministry, was even more categorical. He said: "Basically, Latvia has lost potassium cargo from Belarus".
regnum.ru reports that Belarus used to export huge shipments of potassium through Ventspils before, because Klaipeda, the port in Lithuanian, could process just small shipments. But, now Belarus reduced potassium shipments through Latvia, and the reasons remain unknown.
