Liquidation of consequences of disaster at Beshankovichy District

Liquidation of consequences of the disaster at the oil pipe Unecha-Ventspils (Beshankovichy District, Vitsebsk Region) belonging to a Russian company “Zapad-Nefteprodukt” continues. The land-reclamation ditch through which the oil could reach the river Svyachanka, a tributary of the Ula, and then proceed to the West Dzvina, has been blocked with earth mounds.

The Belarusian Minister of Emergency Control Enver Baryeu says that the oil leak is minor and will not do a lot of damage to the environment. It is reported that about 5 tons of oil leaked from the pipe, informs “Interfax”.

Let us remind you that about 120 tons of oil leaked into the West Dzvina as a result of the disaster that happened in March. The Russian company has paid damages to Belarus – about 150 million roubles. The damage done to the environment is being assessed by ecologists.
