Lithuania to build radioactive waste storage 4km away from Belarusian border

Lithuania has decided on the place of construction of a radioactive waste storage for Ignalisnk nuclear power plant. It will be built in Stabatsishkes not far from the plant.
It is reported that the storage is only 4 km away from the Belarusian border. It used to be planned to be built in 1 or 2 km from it and it aroused the anxiety of Minsk.

Let us remind you that the radioactive waste storage of Ignalinsk nuclear power plant will occupy 40 hectares. 3 hectares will be used for preserving radioactive waste – there will be 50 100 cubic metres containers. The storage will be used till 2030-2035.
