Lithuania in 'cement war' with Belarus

Officials in Lithuania maintain that 90 percent of cement exports from Belarus do not meet quality standards. According to experts from Akmenes cementas — the only cement producer in the country  — lab tests have allegedly confirmed it. Lithuania's national non-foodstuffs inspection authority have also joined the claim.
The BaltInfo news agency reports that the economic crisis has seriously affected the construction sector in Lithuania, thus reducing a demand for cement. The Belarus-made cement is reducing in price every month, say managers of Akmenes cementas.
