Lithuania urges Belarusian authorities to release detained
Lithuania regrets the Belarusian authorities’ use of force against demonstrators. It is said in the statement published on the official website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "The Belarusian security agencies’ brutal actions directed against opposition presidential candidates, representatives of independent mass media, opposition activists, their arrests and searches in the flats and offices of representatives of the democratic opposition arouse a lot of anxiety”, - report BelaPAN quoting Lithuania’s statement.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is urging the official Minsk to refrain from the use of force against peaceful demonstrators, to release the detained and to investigate and assess all the incidents as soon as possible.
Lithuania is consulting its partners in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and EU on the way the Belarusian election process and results should be assessed.
