Lukashenka may be invited to EU summit in Brussels next year
Alyaksandr Lukashenka may be invited to an EU summit in Brussels in 2009. RIA “Novosti” informs about it referring to Belgian mass media. In particular, the deputy Foreign Minister of Czechia Thomas Poyar who visited Belarus not long ago has informed about this possibility. According to him, the administration of Czechia who will get its EU presidency from France on January 1, 2009, is considering the possibility of participation of the Belarusian leader in the EU summit “27 plus 6” – member states plus Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus.
BelaPAN reminds that EU Foreign Ministers suspended the banishment to enter EU member states imposed on Alyaksandr Lukashenka and 35 Belarusian officials for six months. Lukashenka has been “on the black list” since April 2006.
